Was at range yesterday and a fellow sighting his 760 Rem in 3006 left me his cases. Most were standard Rem commercial cases. Certainly have a use for those. A couple others were "strange" to me. The first thing I noticed they have an indented ring about 10 mm up from the base all the way around the case. This was before firing! It was not quite as pronounced on a couple cases after firing but was certainly still there.
Cases are magnetic so I assume steel coated with nickel or chrome? Headstamped MFS and 3006 Spring. As well as 3 other symbols/letters I didn't recognize.
Primer is bronze coloured with red sealer. Looks larger than LR so I assume Berdan. Couldn't see into the case with the light I had.
Couple questions- Is this stuff corrosive -The shooter had no idea what I was talking about- and what is the purpose of the "dent"
