Hello,

This may be of some interest to some fellows here. A few years ago a buddy of mine gave me 2 Red Streamer Rifle Grenades in their original packaging. Now for about 4 years maybe more they sat in a storage tote with some other related items. I was conversing with another member here and he had a couple inert rifle grenades of similar dimensions that he was showing me, along with the related launcher. So i was like I have 2 of those,,, i think, never opened them.

So this after noon we opened 1 up to have a look to see what was in them. IN the spring we are going to shoot the one we opened,, you know,, to see what will happen. Here are the pics. Manufactured May 1955.

.
The M23A1 Streamer Rifle Grenade will burn for approximately 11 seconds after firing. It will start to smoke immediately after being fired. Be sure to remove the tape over the air hole on the nose so that incoming air will force the smoke out. I would also fire it into a safe area where it will not cause any fires after it lands.

Be sure to take both movie and still pictures of the event, and post them.

and as an aside-those are some great pics of my Duece 1/2 restoration in the background....

good tip on the tape removal Buffdog...all the ports have tape over them and I wasn't sure if it should be peeled off before launch
