well im the owner of a crossbow now:D..well had it a month or so now:D.
i was just looking at my spare string for it..
the string has a twist in the the way it was manufactured..
my question is ..
when restringing the bow,do you keep the twist in the string ?

Not 100% sure what you mean but any bow string I have ever had, recurve, long bow, compound bow, all had a twist in them and yes I kept the twist in them.

The string is like any other rope, the twist keeps the strands together and gives the sting more strength as well as keeping the vibration from separating the strands when you shoot the bow. The other purpose of the twist is to set the brace height of the bow. Brace height is the distance from the limb to the sting when the bow is in the resting position. The excaliber bows have two lines on the deck, the string should rest between these lines for correct draw weight.

that,s what i love about this forum:) ask one question then get a great tip on something else you neaver knew:)..
thanks for this info,as i did see them lines, but i neaver had a clue what they were:redface:

On Exalibur bows (I own a Exocet 200 my son has a Vortex) you want the string resting about 1 1/8" from the riser or just outside (away from the limbs) the line closest to the riser. Over time the string will stretch and lower the brace height (move it closer to the limbs). To maintain it or move it back unstring it and give it a twist or two. Re-string and check the height again. The Excalibur stringing aid make it and easy job. The same should apply for any recurve crossbow.

If it is an Excalibur you have check out www.excaliburcrossbow.com and go to the crossbow forum. Lots of great people and info there.
