"Stripper Clips" are actually little wire thingies which hold an Ecdysiast's costume together while she is in the process of becoming bear nekkid on the stage.
The whatchamacallitses which hold ammunition properly are CLIPS only if they become a part of the Magazine and are loaded into the magazine in order that the Rifle might be used. Mannlichers have Clips, Carcanos have Clips, Berthiers have Clips and Garands have Clips.
Everything else has CHARGERS, these being the metal strips which hold a CHARGE of ammunition for the Magazine. Such Rifles include Mausers, P-14s, M-1917s, 1903 Springfields, SAFNs (just try to find the 10-rounders!), Ljungmanns, Tokarevs, Moisin-Nagants, FALs, M-14s and, of course, Lee-Enfields.
I can well remember the times in which you had to run around the Parade Square with your C-1 over your head, 10 laps, for committing the terrible SIN of identifying a CHARGER as a CLIP.
But now, it seems, nobody cares.
MAUSER Chargers, BTW, were specific as to the ACTION of the Rifle, not the Cartridge. The Cartridges all had the same head diameter, but the ACTIONS were ground for different Chargers. These are for a 98.
