Wow that is a smoking deal, congrats! My 35 rem is my favourite rifle to talk about with.

Right on guys,..a great deal on a great little gun...I've always wanted one of these, and when a co-worker offered it to me at that price I couldn't get the money out of my pocket fast enough...looking forward to a trip to the range with it. Bear season opens here tomorrow, (haven't got bait out yet, too busy, and too hot, I'll have it out this week), I think I might leave my 358win at home this season and use the 35rem for a change.

That is a fantastic deal for $250 ! Enjoy your Marlin 35, but watch it closely, those Marlins tend to be sneaky and multiply in your gun safe when you aren't paying attention! :)

Edited to add: Let's see some pics!

Sounds like a really, really good deal. I always wanted to get one in .35 Remington.
I remember reading an gun article from way back in the 50s, written by an experienced hunter who was also a military officer.
For woods deer hunting, he regarded his 336C in .35 Rem. as the best, bar none.
He fitted his with a Lyman receiver sight and a 3/32" bead front sight, which is and always has been an excellent combo.

It would be interesting to find out the year of manufacture. Perhaps you lucked out and got one of earlier manufacture from the 50s or 60s.

This site will tell you about your JM gun up to 1990.

Or ty this page for JM guns made from 1941 to 2011.

I dated it the day I got it, it was made in 1983, it has the cross bolt safety..that's the only thing I don't like about it.

I recall the .30-30 336C and 336T rifles that I bought around 1979, and the 336 in .375 Winchester that I bought around 1981.
All were excellent quality then, so I am sure that yours is too.
(No cross-bolt safeties on them, though.)

I wish that I had kept the .375 and the 336C.
