I am seeing some really cool shorty 10/22's out there with 8" barrels but am having a helluva time getting a solid handle on them. Any of you boys have one? Any issues? What's accuracy like?

I'm thinking of nabbing one off of Dlask...
 
The 8" I had was great but darn loud. With a colapsable stock it was either needed to be reclassified or the stock pinned.
This and the loudness made me sell it.
Was a good shooter though.

They're no louder than a 22 pistol. Wear ear plugs.

I have no problem with quarter size groups at 25.

8" barrel with XB5 linear comp. still louder than 16-18" barrels. I threw on hearing protection after a couple mags left some ringing. Accuracy was ~1.25" at 50 yards. Actually better than factory barrel. Reliable didn't change between the barrels.
 
I have an 11.5" DLASK on mine, and when it's sporting cross hair optics, its a laser beam up to 35 yards.
Plus it's noticeably louder shooting CCI quiets.. might get out tomorrow with my decibel meter to get some exact numbers against one of my 18.5" takedowns.

I got a factory 10" Ruger Challenger barrel off Ebay 80.00, stock was 140.00, so this is my cheap build as I had the other parts already.

It is pretty loud, but shoots great!! The factory longer barrel is not anymore accurate at all.



I have been into ARs for 30 years now, so this feels more natural. The stock has a pinned/epoxied collar on the tube to ensure it is legal.
