Stuck case.

I dont like RCBS dies for multiple reasons.

1. broken decaping pins.
2.broken sizing and decaping rods.
3. having to buy all the required parts as extras.
4. bent parts
5. The fiddly parts that screw togethor then come a part while you work.
6. PRICE for the price of these things you should get way more for the dollars.

I have never broken a decappinig pin or bent a decapping rod with RCBS dies.I have never had an RCBS die come apart while being used,I have however had a Lee Collet die slip when in use,as have many other people.I do know people that have done something wrong, and have damaged parts, and RCBS sent them replacement parts free of charge, even though the damage was due to operator error.

Not planning to have problems indicates a lack of preparation and research to me.

Not planning to have problems is very realistic if you use good quality components, and you use them properly.

I do use a LEE autoprime, but all of my other tooling is RCBS or Redding.

Maybe I got a lemon Rcbs die. It was a used set so who really knows how many owners and what they have done to abuse it. I should reserve judgment untill I get to use a new set.

By the way I do read instructions and use good quality componets. I also have a friend who has been loading since he was 16 to help me out and ask questions.

Any case has the potential to stick in any die set of dies.

We have strayed to far of the OT which was how to get one out of a lee die, sorry to Petrock for the hijack.

I also use both Lee and RCBS. The reason why I bought this particular set of dies was that I broke my last RCBS decapping pin and my local guy doesn't sell RCBS. So I bought a complete set of Lee FL dies, so that I could get the crimp die aswell since I didn't have one.

Hijack away fellas. It is these open discussions that feed information that I can't seem to find with the search function.

I used to reload years ago but have since lost the touch for it. I'm working on getting it all back into focus.

I mainly use the lee collet neck sizing dies. But I recently bought a deluxe set that had the collet and fl die. I do like their crimp as well. I am Know there are better sets out there but value and design were deciding factors. My local guy doesn't stock much reloading equipment but he has a decent section of RCBS parts. Maybe that combined with my bad experience with the dies I had made me think they break fairly often.

It does not matter what brand of dies you use with regards to stuck cases. The same circumstances the lead to a stuck case in one brand will almost certainly cause a stuck case in another.

The case did have a little bit of a scratch almost the entire length down one side. It's very shallow and I considered it of no importance. I may have been wrong.

There's a small burr in your die if it's scratching your cases. Get some 400 or 600 grit sand paper and roll it up tight. Stick it in the die and let it expand to fit the taper of the die and give it a gentle polish. A dozen or two rotations should be all it takes to get rid of the burr. Give it a good clean with a white rag and you're good to go.

The case went into the die with the scratch. I didn't think anything of it when I put it into the die as it was pretty shallow. The die still looks perfect inside.

Lee emailed back the first business day after I emailed them. I included some photos of the decapper with a description of what had happend. They are mailing me a replacement part without further cost to myself.

Excellent service. I'll post how long it takes to get the decapper.

Replacement de-capper arrived today. Appears to be a brand new piece and there was no charge or arguement from anyone at Lee. Customer service seems to be quite good.

I bought a set of used RCBS dies that had a bent decapper rod, they sent me a new one free of charge, and threw in a half dozen decapper pins with it.

Also got a set of Lee dies with a rifle one time, that had a bent rod, LEE sent me a new one as well.
