So the 'Dead trigger' thread has run its course, and my trigger is no longer dead. Now the receiver cover is still not coming off.

This was the dead trigger thread: http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?t=607480

As requested by Satain, here is a pic of the pins on the left side of the receiver.

It may be worth noting that 2 days ago the sear pin was extremely loose, and now it's protruding about 2mm and it doesn't move.

As for the bolt, after cocking the gun and pulling the trigger, it doesn't move at all. And when I pull on the charging handle it has tension right from the start.

FWIW, here's a pic of the bolt from the magwell.

As a reminder, this is how much the cover lifts.

When I was first instructed to pull on the sear, being a noob I pulled on the sear spring instead. I may have bent it a little but it still does its job.

Now I remember trying to remove the cover when I got the rifle, before firing one shot, and not being able to. I just thought I'd check it out later on youtube. So I don't think the trigger failure is related.

Thanks a lot for your help.

Based on your pic I think I know what your issue is. The striker is cocked to the rear, which will make it so you can not remove the rear cover.

1) In the red box you can see the striker. In this position the rear cover can be removed.

2) In the red box you can not see the striker. The striker is to the rear and the springs under tension. In this position the rear cover can not be removed. (Same as pic you posted above)

3) With the striker to the rear the lower spring guide ( 1 ) is inside of the striker ( 2 ) which is why you can not lift the rear cover

4) You need to release the striker into the forward position to remove the rear cover. The red box is the sear (CZ calls it the striker catch). The blue box is the sear spring ( CZ calls it the trigger unit spring). You need to pull down on the sear (striker catch) until the spring tension pushes the striker to the forward position.

You should now be able to remove the rear cover, if there are no other issues.

Hope this helps.

Problem is, I've already pulled on the sear with a hook through the hole under the grip. It clicks and all, but the striker still doesn't move forward.

Are you sure you pulled on the sear and not just the spring?

They are not attached and you need to pull down on the sear, as the spring tension of the recoil spring will hold the two together. The part you need to pull down is the little rectangle the arrow is pointing too and not the long flat spring.

I was just cleaning the trigger mech on my CZ and didn't push the pin retaining clip all the way down. Guess what happened... the striker got stuck in the rear position. It got hung up on the part above the safety pin. Fortunately I had the dust cover off and was confirming that I had everything back in place.

So... it is possible for the pin retaining clip to hold the striker back. Another thing for you to check.

I really hope it is not that. I have no idea how to fix that, short of drilling a hole in the rear cover big enough to get a tool in there to push the retaining pin down.

1) Retaining pin in proper location

2) Retaining pin in call a gunsmith position

Let us know how you fix this, if this is the problem. Defiantly very important info to know.

I have been sitting here trying to figure out how to get to the retainer without breaking anything and I am stumped.

The only other option I can think of would be to drill out the rivets on the rear cover. That should make it so you can remove the sheet metal part. Which would give you enough room the push the retaining pin down.

It sucks, put at least it is only the cost of a rear cover and not paying a gunsmith.

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF!!!!!!!!!!
Shawn your right the pin did walk out as I don't think it was properly in the seated position.

K Sardaukar.
First off keep your fingers crossed.
Tap out sear the pin from the non-saftey lever side to the saftey lever side direction. Tell me please that the pin does come out. If it does then great. It will drop the striker and you will be able to remove the cover. If it doesn't budge well then it's plan B.

I removed the sear pin. It didn't do anything at that moment.

I then racked the gun and dropped the sear with my little hook.

Still no go. Still holding my fingers crossed!

Pulling the bolt back now feels different.

The sear pin came out heh?
That means that the tigger retainer wasn't properly enguaged.
K now try to pull down the leaf spring instead of the sear while racking the action.

I did this a couple of times, and now I can see the sear is under the spring(with the rifle held normally) instead of over it. It wiggles pretty much freely.

Ok, this would have been an informative thread if it lead somewhere. More news when I finally sort this mess out.

Thanks

before you butcher anything, try to take off the stock and use a pick to release the sear.
I asked him many times to do that and he still tells me that the striker wont drop.
It's got to be a broken part I figure that got stock some were in there and won't let it out.

Take the stock off and take the grip off it will provide you with 2 holes for access did u try pulling the trigger? :HR:

It's on the way back to the dealer as of yesterday. I was told other rifles in this batch had the same issue. Something about the striker hammer that has an incorrect bevel to it and has caused the operating spring rod to bend and jam the bolt in place. Not your regular 858 issue, I believe. At least I had never read about it. I'll be keeping a close eye on this when it comes back.

did u try pulling the trigger?

Im really interested to see what the heck your actually talking about TAKE SOME PICS!!

I only ask about pulling the trigger cause when I first got the 858 I had to youtube it just to get the cover off. In your first post you said you may have bent it a little anyways ...............
Well hopefully it comes back better than mine.
Empty shells dont like to eject when shes pretty hot just likes to sear the lip off so I have to poke it out with a cleaning rod. yay! :pd:h:
