I have just started to reload my .338 Lapua mag, and i got a casing stuck in my de-priming die, any thoughts on how to get it out? the shell holder pulled off part of the bottom of the casing. I have tried using vice-grips but all that did was chew away and the brass..... any ideas would be very helpful.

You can get a "stuck case removal kit" or you can substitute. Do you have a tap and die set? Drill and tap through the primer pocket for a 1/4-20 thread. Put a 3/8' drive socket (same size as base of die) over the rim of stuck case, put a washer over a 1/4 bolt long enough to pass through the socket and thread into tapped hole in case. The bolt and washer/socket will snug up against the bottom of the die as you keep turning and the threads will "pull" the case out. It sounds more complicated than it is.

put your die in the press and start turning the primer pin depth screw down
do it slowly and pretty soon out pops your case
no problem

Very often the slot for the screwdriver breaks if the case is stuck hard. If you try this, use an untappered screw driver blade, but proceed with caution. Better to buy or make a stuck case puller.

Try and see if this works. Since there are two metals are involved (Brass, for the ammo case and Steel for the Deprimer die) they have different reactions to heat and cold. Brass reacts faster than steel therefore if you heat the die (perhaps in an oven), take it out and inject ice cold water using a syringe through the primer pocket hole. After a few seconds, try extracting the case with a twisting action. I've tried extracting a bearing from an axle using this method, this could work for you.

best way to avoid breaking the screw slot ..
double up on the nuts, tighten them against each other and just use a wrench or pliers to ease out the stuck brass..
but i dont think this will work if the bottom of the brass was pulled off,as stated in original thread
