When I bought my reloading gear, I was told by the store employee that I would need to trim my brass, so I bought a case trimmer and some pilots in a few calibres.
I don't think I've used them once. Realised later on that pistol brass shrinks instead of expanding (I also heard it has less to do with low pressures than with the repeated full-length sizings making the metal flow toward the case head).
I'd bet money that the employee only reloads rifle rounds and made an honest recommendation based on his experience. Waste of money for me though!
