Stupid Question - Full Choke loads

Hi everyone,

Here's a stupid question that I'm sure someone will lambast me for. What loads are safe to fire from a full choke? For reference it's a 12 gauge Cooey 84, and I have no specific purpose asides from putting holes in paper and assassinating watermelons in dramatic fashion.

They were well built firearms...it's probably 2 3/4" chamber, any load of that length is suitable, including slugs.

I had some concerns about 00, 000, and slugs, but from what I'm hearing as long as it is lead I'm good to go?

I'm not sure about the slugs. If it fits through the choke the back pressure will still hit your shoulder pretty hard.

Lead slugs are perfectly safe. Slug recoil will usually be higher than shot, but it has nothing to do with the extra pressure at the muzzle.

Any lead load is fine.

I pity your shoulder shooting slugs from a Cooey 84 though

Yep,shooting slugs out of an 84,hold her as tight as a hottie on a first date

Those Cooeys have taken quite a few deer with slugs in Ontario's shotgun only areas.
