Stupid question, kinda

Target turrets give you the opportunity to rezero to any distance without the guesswork of hold over. You need to know a few things before you can do this reliably.

First I find it easier to zero the rifle at 100 yards/meters. Then reset your elevation and windage turrets to "0". Loosen off the screws that hold them in place spin them around to line up with the "0" and tighten them back up.

Second is to get yourself an accurate ballistics chart. You need to know how fast your ammo is going. Most factory stuff list it on the box somewhere. Or if you have a chronograph....perfect. Take the velocity of your ammo and punch it into a ballistics calculator. There are several free on the net. biggameinfo.com, Hornady..........not hard to find. For the most part the ballistics calculator will give you the come ups in "moa" or in "clicks"

So example is: My .308 using 168gr Amax bullets chronos at 2640fps. I know that this load drops 4.3 inches @ 200 yds, 15.2 inches @300 yds and for fun.........61.6 inches low @ 500yds. The simple math on this is that I take the drop in inches (61.6) and devide it by the distance I am shooting in moa ( 500 yards = 5moa...so I devide by 5) giving me 12.3. I now take my elevation turret and crank it UP 12.25 or 12.5 moa.....( since my scope has 1/4 moa adjustments I can't very well do 12.3 can I ).... and I am now rezeroed to make that 500 yard shot. If I wanted a shot at 300 yds I take my drop of 15.2 and devide by 3 giving me 5. I crank my scope up to that 5 moa hashmark and Im set. Just make sure you turn your turret back to "0" when done shooting or making that shot. Its frustrating going out for the next range session shooting at a closer distance and having the first few rounds shoot clean over the target..........

Hope this is of some help
