Stupid Question...

As I understand it, a stovepipe is when the case does not fully eject and gets caught by the bolt as it cycles closed.

One of the many failures potential to happen with a live round. FTF=failure to feed/fire FTE=failure to eject

This happens with my Ruger Mark III very often. I have the new made for Canada, 4.2" Stainless Steel Bull Barrel, with Crimson Trace Laser Grips. I get way too many FTF also. I expected a lot more from this handgun, but I've been very disappointed with it. It looks good, but reliable...No Way!

Any possibility that it's just not broken in fully yet????? I've put about 1,000 rounds through, but I still get way, way too many FTF, FTL, FTE. This is not a gun I would trust my life to!

Not a stupid question . A stove pipe jam occurs when a fired case does not fully eject
and is left stuck half out of the action . It usually happens in semi auto actions and
can be caused by a dirty action or week recoil spring . It also can be caused by the
ammo not having enough energy to blow back the bolt and eject the case . Some
lower velocity ammo does not have the power to work in some semi auto guns .
Some ammo is not manufactured accurately to fit all actions and binds causing miss
fires and stove pipes . Some bullet shapes don't perform well in some guns .

That is why it is always a good idea to try different ammo in your 22 rimfire and find
out what it likes , reliability and accuracy wise , before buying large amounts .
