So I'm listening to the radio last night [FYI it was 106.9 Capital FM out of Fredericton N.B.] while working on an assignment for school when I here the DJ announce that the first bear in Maryland's first bear season has been taken. I thought cool don't hear many positive things on hunting in the media. then the DJ mentions that it was a 100 (i think, anyway not a very big bear) pound bear taken by an eight year old girl on her families farm. I'm think good for her ....... should have known this was comming....... then the DJ starts going on and said something like "thats right in Maryland eight year old girlds can be armed with high power rifles" blah blah blah "there is no minimum age for hunters all you need is parents consent and a hunter saftey course and children can go out armed with a high powered rifle" Blah blah blah. By this point he had used the term "high powered rifle" 3 or 4 times in about 25 sec of air time. And then the final comment that really pissed me off was "no wonder americans are shooting each other"
Like an eight year old girl hunting on the family farm has anything to do with armed thugs in major urban areas where the gun violence is. :x[/b]
