Sub 100$ scope for a .308 Rem 700

Best ~$100 scope:
Take a $50 bill, 2 $20 bills and a $5 bill......roll them up...tape them together....tape some cat hair over the front in a cross formation then tape it to your rifle. Will be better than any ~$100 scope that has any kind of a lens in it.

Used Weaver 4x or better, can still be had for under $100, and they'll do the job. - dan
Without wanting to sound too negative, your gun is only as good as the scope mounted on it. Sell the 700 and get a Stevens and put the difference into glass. It'll shoot better than a 700 with $100 glass.
Also, as mentioned, you can find great deals on used scopes that were considered cream of the crop a few years ago. The ScopeChief, for example, or old steel-tubed el-paso Weavers. I have a couple old scopes like these handy, and I'll use them when I buy a new gun to see how it shoots, and if it's worthy of it's own glass
