So, I was out plinking around with my brother today and left him unattended for a bit, when I returned and just before we packed up he stated that the rifle was shooting a bit off so he made some adjustments by turning a screw in the front sight and not turning the front post. I didn't think to much of it, other than I will have to double check things when I went to the range again.
When I got home I thought I would take a look in the manual to see exactly what this screw he turned did.
I looked in the manual and right next to the picture of the screw it states "Do not tamper with or loosen this screw". Great.
Looking at the parts list it is called a "Shoulder Bolt". Does anyone know what this screw does? Why should one not adjust it?
I have not shot it since he told me he adjusted things as we were just heading home. Any idea what this will do to the sighting? Did he disrupt the space-time continuum?
Thanks.

I do things all the time that various manuals tell me not to do.

I wouldn't worry about it at all, just so long as you made it tighter and not looser when you adjusted it. If you did adjust it loser, I would just tighten it again.
