Several things happened over the course of the weekend... One of which was I discovered that I'd be needing a sling for my FS2k within the next few days. This left ordering what I wanted out of the question. So after a trip to MEC, and the liberation of my wife's Pfaff sewing machine, I knocked out the back lanyard section of the sling...

Here's a few crappy cell phone pics...

I've done mine a little differently than Urban ERT's sling. My setup uses both of the sling tabs at the rear of the stock, along with a sliding rear tension loop. I think that this makes the adjustment easier, but it will take an extra 30 seconds to remove the trigger group from the rear of the carbine, as I have to un-loop one of the buckles.

I've also added nylon webbing under all plastic buckles to prevent any damage or marking to the plastic stock of the rifle.

I'll be finishing the easy part (the sling itself) tomorrow, and post up some finished pictures if anyone is interested. End of the day - it's probably worth about 20 bucks worth of parts and supplies to make...I bought a crap load of parts from MEC, but will return all that I don't need.

Sweet! Wanna make one for me? :)

I was looking at the urban ert website, but I really can't justify another 100 on a sling, especially since i already have a sweet single point with the right adapter.

Seriously - let me know how much you want for one of these suckers!

I appreciate the offer... I don't think I'll be going into production anytime soon though...:D

oenone Heh, looks good. Are you going for single point or two point?

It will be convertible - single point or two point, just need to re-assign the fastech buckles.

So you're cloning the Urban-ERT sling (not saying that like it's wrong). One thing I liked about the sling was the feature of the weapons catch adapter (the thing they offer to sell you discounted). Attach that half-way to the sling itself where it has loops for attaching things, set the sling up in single-point mode, and you can hook that adapter up to the front sling attachment point on the rifle and carry like a two-point (the rifle doesn't flip-flop), but then just release it and it gives the freedom of the single point for shooting. Really smart design.

Sling Done - Hate to say that it took longer than I had anticipated...

Lots of weaving and sewing... I also took some time to sew in some accessory loops and "D" rings. As for the buckles, I wrapped them in Cordura to prevent any damage to the stock with plastic on plastic impacts... More work, but I think the look is what I wanted.

It slings up quite well, and comes to the shoulder nicely in either 2 point or single point configuration. Nuff talk, here's a few more pictures with a better camera than yesterday...

Cheers,

M.

Hmm, no import markings on your FS2000, no "FNH USA Fredericksburg VA" engraved under the calibre and country of origin? Interesting. Non-restricted from Kodiak, huh? And does your inspection cover also kind of collapse to the side and not close properly?

Anyway, the sling does look great. Were you able to include the convenient quick cinch and the dynamic break-away?

That comes from storing it with the cable lock on and the toilet seat down. My new one didn't do that at first, but does now. I'm thinking after a while it will correct itself (if you use trigger lock instead).

It has the import markings molded into the body - In the photo, the strap from the sling is concealing them. It is a non restricted from Kodiak, and the lid actually closes perfectly... If you look at the first of the updated photos, you'll see the pair of cables protruding from the magazine well. The cable lock that wraps through the action is very thin, and the combo lock actually fits in the mag well.

I've tried a couple different trigger locks on mine, but haven't found one that fits yet... If you discover one that works, let me know cause I hate cable locks... :D
