Czech surplus 7.62x39.
100 meters with irons sights.
70 of 73 bullets hit the paper with most hitting within the main target.
These were fired in rapid succession (except the last 15 shots that were made at the small peripheral targets, discussed below), with a 10 to 20 second break between reloading.
This is considered "field grade" accuracy, and certainly adequate enough to "get the job done" in most combat situations.
I also made 7 initial test shots to adjust/get a feel for the sight, but a couple went too high and a couple went too low.
The top right small-target shows a 1 inch 5 round grouping, two bullets nearly in one hole!
The top left small-target shows a just under 2 inch 5 round grouping. This was my second last group.
The bottom right small-target shows a 3 1/2 inch 4 round grouping, plus one flier to the left. That was my last group.
The top two are the tightest groups I have ever accomplished with an SKS, and dare I say better than I have ever shot out of any semi-automatic in my life (without a scope), including my 8+ years in the Reserves using an FNC1A1, and later the C7. Not too bad for a $200 rifle!
I still need to adjust my front sight, as this SKS clearly shoots a bit to the right. I will bring my sight adjustment tool with me the next time I go to the range.
This is definitely my most accurate SKS, and it has a chrome lined barrel! Go figure.
