Well I started opening morning (monday last week) with a little 6pt. buck with the group I was hunting with and by Wednesday there was only 2 of us left hunting. So we headed over to my cottage w/ 14 acres for a morning hunt (first ever cottage hunt)....and I slammed a nice 9pt. after letting a couple does go by. I didn't hunt again until yesterday afternoon. A friend of mine invited me up to their camp as they had a few tags left to fill. My first 2 hrs out in the woods I let a 6pt. go by and then a big 9pt. tried to sneak by I dropped him w/ a throat shot....that was the first time I attempted a throat shot and the only time I dropped a deer in it's tracks. Wow this was an exciting year for rifle hunting, especially since I only hunted 1 full day, 2 mornings and 1 afternoon. I saw 10 deer and shot 3 bucks. I won't be expecting another season like that for a while. Good luck South-Eastern Ontario hunters we got a couple days left and they are rutting hard now!
