Successful moose hunt

Was on the edge of a marsh using a Johnny Stewart preymaster with the moose card. After about 2 hours of running the call every 15 minutes, this bull runs out of the woods to the edge of the marsh looking right at me from about 70 yrds. Using a Rem 700 in .270 (purchased from the EE), put a shot into his lungs. He ran about 20 yards and stopped. I figured he was about to drop but didn't want to take the chance of him running off so I put another one into his lungs (about 4 inches from the first). He took about 3 steps and flopped.

Next time put the 2nd shot in the neck. If you hit spine he will drop for sure. Moose have habit of making into some NASTY places if you don't knock them down right away.

I suspect its because he likes to use the Johnny Stewart Preymaster for calling other game, e.g. predators.

Exactly. I had purchased the caller for coyotes and figured I might as well pick up the moose card. Plenty of folks call them in without any gadgets but since I'm pretty green to moose hunting, I figured I could use all the help I could get.
