Sudbury, ON Area •• Looking for long range shooting spots

Looking to stretch the legs and have only a few spots, mostly around 300 yards.
Would like something in excess of 8-1000 yards.
Any info would be appreciated. I'm in Capreol myself.
Thanks in advance.

Have you tried the pit off of Portelance Rd? Accessed from a trail near the pole line. I've never measured it out but it's gotta be 500 or so?

I'll be surprised if we have a shooting acceptable location with 1K yards. A guy I talked to a Rifles & Reels mentioned he drives down south (Barrie I think he said) to practice his long range shooting. That said, he competes so perhaps he needs a legit range -- I would think he could find something closer if it existed.

There's a spot north west of the sudbury airport. You can only get there via sled trails. 800m easily. Kinda sketchy though as I heard the fine for getting caught on these trails with a vehicle is extremely pricey! MNR land usage map states it's General Purpose Crown Land so you're aloud to shoot there.

There is a spot I have been shooting at for several years just north of Frappier lake north of Val Therese. Unfortunately I don't go as often and most of my long distance shooting buddies have moved to southern Ontario so I now shoot alone most of the time and given the effort to get setup in these locations, I haven't been out in about a year. This spot has approximately 1800yards. There was also a spot just north of the old Capreol ski hill that we shot at a few times which had 900 yards. Rifles and Reels are looking to open a 1100 yard range at their club but it won't likely be ready till late 2017. They cleared 400yards to date but I was told by a club executive that they probably wouldn't open that particular range till mid summer and probably wouldn't get out past 600 this year.

there isn't much .. unless you find a spot on the pole line via quadrunner.. we usto shoot at the dowling pit, which was about 350 yards bank to bank ( not ideal at all ... cross winds, heat mirage .. vehicles cutting through... and eventually they close it down )
-look out for some finished logging cuts .. there is some spots out past cartier ... dunbar Lake

You need to go west young man. There are spots along pole lines west of Nairn Center.

Contact me by PM and I will share one location that may be suitable. Not for everyone as I don't need that much company.
