Trade Ex did me in (again)! My Husqvarna 1600, in 6.5 X 55 in very good condition is on the way.

I will be shooting targets at 200-300 yards. It will also be accompanying me this deer season.

I would appreciate suggestions for a good long range scope, mid-range price (around $300). Only new scopes. Higher magnification than 3 X 9. A ballistic drop compensation reticle, would be even nicer, but not necessary.

Just wondering what is the best value in the market right now? How can I maximize my $300

Thanks

There is a VX-II 6x18 for sale in the EE right now. It needs to be repaired but the price is right and the repairs are free. Just cost you shipping. You might even be able to convince the seller to ship it directly to Korth for you. Then have Korth ship it to you when its done.

It's a bit out of your budget at $475 but with the higher magnification scopes, you dont want to buy something like a welfare Walmart Tasco since you'll never be able to see anything out of it past about 4x anyways.

Not sure on pricing but it might be worth looking at a new Redfield.

Thanks guys. For now, I have decided to mount my existing Bushnell Trophy 6-18x40 and see how it works at the range. It is no VXIII and does go a little foggy at high magnifications, but nothing like the "welfare Tasco's":)

Home3, I know little about optics but I just bought a Bushnell Elite 3200 5-15x40. I'm using it for paper @ 200 yards. I wanted the 6500 series but like yourself my budget was $300 ish, paid $369 at the box store. I compromised but am still very happy with it.
peace..
