Hey all,
As some items on my site are Free Shipping, some items, are plus shipping.
I've had some feedback regarding having to pay a $15 Shipping cost on those items.. As Retailer, I try to find a balance.. So many items are at a price point, where if I charge more, just to say "Free Shipping", it may sound too high from first glance and maybe customer not want to buy, not noticing it's free shipping, making it a good price compared to other places you many be able to buy same item.
So, on these, I choose to just put a great price, this way it's more fair. Why is more fair, cause lower price helps swallow the shipping cost, but more so because if you order 2-4 items, eg.. pant, a shirt, a knife....if priced higher to cover shipping, now you overpaid for the items cause a one time shipping cost on top of your lower priced purchase, will cover shipping for all these items together... so, if shipping put into the price, then when ordering multiple items, you'll be overpaying on all the items after the first one....
Also, I've broken down my shipping to multiple categories to help keep shipping closer to the real cost.... I have a $12 (for single and smaller items) , $15 (std. for larger items) , $16 (boots, lrg/heavier), $17(rural ares west of Manitoba), shipping options... also hoping customer use them accordingly...
I can't ship first and then charge you second time for that...it's too difficult and logistics a nightmare..so, some items may cost me $10, but you paid $12, and some items cost me $18, but you paid $15...so it's not perfect, but I'm doing my best to offer enough options to help balance it out closer to the various customer/orders/locations, etc... End of the day, I think most don't care for a buck or two, as long as they're not paying $5 or more than they should..
Hope this helps understand shipping costs better.
All this, is to lead up to my Suggestion:
I recommend, if possible to get a buddy or few, order multiple items on one order and ship to one address, and this way shipping is nothing broken down between the two/few of you. (if by chance you guys happen to want items from one retailer). Also, some items are free shipping, for example you buy a Revision Stingerhawk 3 lens kit, and a shirt, since the Stingerhawk is free shipping item, don't have to pay shipping on the shirt, as I'll cover it... it should be about the same to ship both....if too many items and order gets big and heavy, I may request just $ more.
