Just picked up a 338. Don't have any experience reloading this canon, only tactical 308 rounds.

I picked up some 225grn Barnes TSX and some Nosler accubonds. Any suggetions for reloading? Experience with these rounds?

Thanks

barnes TSX are awsome bullets, I used 500g in my 458 lott, and recoverd one out of the dirt once at the range!... flawless bullets.
i have not ever loaded for 338 win mag, and only use lapua 250 lock base and or scenars in my 338, i do have some 250g partitions but have not used them yet...

I've had good results with 210, 225, and 250 gr. bullets using Reloader 19 powder. It seems to give good velocity and accuracy with a range of bullet weights, so it might be a good powder choice to start your load development from.

I'd bet its hard to go wrong with either 4350, RL19, IMR 4831, H4831, WXR, RL22, MRP, or even 7828/H1000

all of those powders are right in there for ideal burn rates with 338 win mag

try Varget/RL15/4064 with 180-200 gr. loads

338

I have a 225 partition load that is deadly, my rifle has been free bored so i can use more powder but a buddy uses the same powder and gets great results with the same bullet. My gun uses 78.5gr H4831 with a 225 partition for 2950fps, my buddy uses 74.5gr of H4831 with the same bullet for 2800fps in his M700 Rem, both shoot around an inch consistantly.

I don't use it but I know two long time 338 shooters who do, 75.0gr RL-22.It's one of those common loads. An interesting load is the starting load of H-4350, accurate and easy shooting.

Those are long bullets and will intrude into the case. I'm limited to my magazine OAL of 3.360". I load the 225gr. Accubond with IMR4831 and found the load is quite compressed. Also, the velocity lags by about 60fps compared to other 225gr. bullet I load. My next powder to try with these long bullets is going to be H4831 short cut. I'm hoping it will take up less room in the case.
