Didn't get much response in the rimfire forum. Thought I'd give this one a try. Wife like's the 30-30 Win 94 I just bought but has a bit too much kick for her to plink comfortably. Any suggestions? I like the idea of a 9422 but not sure if I should wait for an XTR, magnum, best year etc. Also open to another brand model.

My vote also goes to Henry. These are well made, accurate and dependable rifles. Fit and finish is excellent. With likely the best customer service in the industry(Despite Grech). Henry president: Tony Imperato is a first rate guy(I have dealt with him personally, in the past), who really does care about his customers and stands behind his products. Your wife would likely really love one of these trim, finely made lever rifles, in .22.

If you go Henry get the octagon barrel model, I think it's called the frontier. Nicer sights and the octagon barrel is nice although maybe a bit heavier.

As a number of posters have mentioned, lots to love about the Henry’s but painted aluminum receivers, no?

It's some sort of alloy for sure not steel... but they are smooth and mostly available new in the box for half the price or less of a used marlin or winchester

My favourite is the 9422, the mod 39's are nice but not as smooth as the 9422 and I find the barrels a bit longer then necessary.

If you see a nice 9422 on the E.E. for less then a grand go for it.... :) Mine is not mint but shoots great and I bought it used for around $400 maybe 10 years ago

Any of the above mentioned .22s would be great. Can never go wrong with a browning bl22, Henry’s are really nice, Winchester 94 will do everything you need it to, but I didn’t care for the sights as much as the other two.

Another vote for the BL-22. I don't own the Browning still, but it replaced the inexpensive Henry .22 lever rifle some years back which consistently jammed in the feed area. Maybe the Henrys are better now, but I have a long memory when it comes to this sort of thing...

Used Marlin 39 A. & the Winchester 9422 are the 2 best. If you buy a NEW Henry , know that there is no good
warranty department in Canada.
