Is there anything reliable out there for under $300 ? Just looking for a red dot sight to do some plinking. with my AR. Under 100 yards and most likely under 50 yards.

Thanks in advance for all advice and suggestions

I just tried a Holosun HS510C.

Really liked the 'shake awake' feature. It's Quick Detach, has 3 reticle choices, manual or auto setting for brightness.

Cheers

Best options for that price range is

-Holosun 403 series
-Vortex Sparc AR
-Vortex Sparc 2
-Vortex Crossfire
-Sig Romeo 5

All of those will serve you well. Vortex has a no questions asked warranty if piece of mind helps you out.

Or save up a little more for a used Aimpoint PRO. They can often be found on the EE for about 450 ish

Another plug for the Vortex Crossfire II. The Sparc series is just as good IMHO. Reasonably priced red dots that just work and hold their zero with accurate adjustments.

Bumping this thread. Also at the $300 price point sits the new Nikon P-Tactical Superdot. Reviews appear to be positive so far so.

I picked up a Primary Arms MD-ADS red dot and it is a great little unit. Primary Arms and Holosun are made by the same company. The MD-ADS has a 50,000hr battery life, a 2 MOA dot and is a tough unit. It has great reviews online. Check out the Youtube videos of guys abusing them and they hold up to the punishment. IIRC I paid around $250 for mine from CTCS.
