Suggestions for a Light Weight Self/Home Protection Shotgun

Hello

I was wondering, have No experience, if fellow CGN members with shotgun experience would care to post their favorite model shotgun that would be Great for: Self/Home protection, shorter barrel length due to narrow home hallways, Lighter weight, easy for older people to control, without being accused of being ###ist, something a older weaker woman can easily use if needed, less recoil kick.

Please include model/picture if you can.

.410 with an 18.5” barrel would be my suggestion. I’ve had a Mossberg Maverick 88 in 12 gauge for 10 years. I can handle the recoil with a pistol grip (no stock) but lately I’ve been looking at .20 gauge. Why? Less recoil and my wife may be willing to give it a try.

IMHO the best resource we have for re-writing self defense laws (and the use of firearms) is young, vulnerable women. They have had enough and are prepared to mobilize. What we need to do is overcome the brainwashing they have received regarding firearms so they understand the usefulness of a gun at dissuading an attacker.
 
I'm so glad that farmer wasn't charged with murder. I read an article written by a police Detective in the US that stated if someone breaks into your home in the day they are usually think you aren't home. but if they come in at night they don't care if your home .they sure weren't in his farm house in the middle of the night to take him out for something to eat or a beer.

You don't need 12 gauge and you certainly don't need tacticool. lol. Thats adorable. You should get that made into a sticker and put it on your window.

The average response time of a 911 call is more than 10 minutes. The average response time of a 357 Magnum is more than 1300 FPS.

Light weight and less recoil don't usually go hand in hand, especially with a shotgun. A semi auto will reduce felt recoil a bit as well as reduced recoil ammo. You should be able to find a middle ground though, short mid weight gun and a lighter loaded 2 3/4" buckshot might fit the bill. If it's for home defense you want it to be reliable and have factory or aftermarket parts available, I'd be looking at a Remington or Mossberg pump with a shorter barrel. Something tried and true, a Fabarm would be a good gun as they make a quality shotgun.
 
This is what is in my bedroom, In case I need to fight my way to my safe. with 2 kids in the house I cant leave any firearms out.

Im pretty sure the Fubar will do the job if for some reason my dog doesn't chew his balls off first... lol
