Does it? I looked at some federal ammo yesterday, and the 140gr accubond in the 6.5cm never came close to the energy of the 165gr accubond in the 308win out to 500yds.

The BC is higher on the 6.5, so eventually it'll win out, but not at any realistic hunting range for either choice.
That said if the goal is a range gun with a small chance of hunting, the 6.5cm would be a good choice.
within 400y no deer is going to be able to tell whether it was hit by a 308 or a 6.5 creedmoor. they're within 200ftlb of each other between 100-300y, which is SFA when it comes to thin-skinned game like deer.
with less recoil, the 6.5 creed should be easier to become proficient with.
6mms are another option, if even less recoil is preferred. Cabelas had a decent selection of 6mm creed ammo the last time I was there.

Ammo reasonably priced and easy to find. Have a look at your local shops to see what is stocked. if you are not a reloader, you may not find the best ammo. Some of these cartridges are best managed by reloaders.
Accurate. Define, your accuracy needs dictate what level of ammo and tool it may be shot from. If you want a hunting rifle and part time target puncher then much of the offers should suffice as noted above. Off the shelf ammo has a lot to be expected of. Reloading can tailor your loads to the tool.

My 2c.
A lot of our German customers went back to 308/30-06 after using 6.5's on deer and boar. I used a 6.5Cm for a full season and definitely think it does not drop em as well as a 308. Great training for the dog. I did however hit the exactly where I aimed at even at longer ranges. My 25 Sika deer last season were shot between 20yds and 670yds.
