I've been looking at optics that might be suitable for my revolver. The picatinny rail is on the front end of the barrel toward the front fiber sight rather than towards the rear sight. I'm wondering if a open reflex with a wide sight picture would be more advantageous compared to a magnifying RDO sight.

Any suggestions with your reasonings for such would be appreciated.

From all the previous threads I've read about regarding pistol optics they have been typically located toward the rear sight. I'm wondering specifically if because my picatinny rail is toward the front sight if there is a more appropriate optic.

If you’re going to use a red dot I wouldn’t be leaning towards a magnified one. A big window might help with picking up the dot.

I’d probably be thinking RMR, 507/508t, Acro, Micro T1/T2, etc.
