hi all, not looking for anything fancy just something that'll let my aging eyes see where im hitting the target lol, price range would top out at $2-300, goin on a norc so really not wanting to get one thats worth more than the rifle lol thanks in advance

Bushnell and Nikon have a line of AR optics for this, although I don't own any so can't comment on quality and I believe wholesale sports may have some of the bushnells in stock.

I have just gotten a Vortex SPARC 2 which is a 1x 2 moa red dot with no parallax. Easy on my old eyes and a lifetime no questions (Canadian Distributor) warranty. About $275. Great for shooting 50 yds or less. For longer distance I like the Nikon AR scopes. There is a nice 3x that has incredible clear optics. 98% light transmission and lifetime warranty. I like the turrets with no caps for easy adjustment. Clarity matches big name scopes 3 and 4 times more expensive. Price is a modest $229. If you want more flex there is a 1-4x (my choice for CQB with magnification) which is priced at $269. The last two I would be comfortable shooting up to 200-300 yds. Do your homework and whatever you get put your hands and eyes on it before you commit. http://www.bullseyelondon.com/optics-sights/nikon

They are available with red or green illumination. Nice clear glass, zero stop turrets, great reticle.
When I was shopping for a 1-4 these were by far the best bang for the buck. Nothing out there has these features until you get to $1000+.
I have two of them now.
I have a Leupold Mark AR 3-9×40 with mildot reticle and elevation turret calibrated to 55g 5.56 I'd sell if you want a little more magnification.

Stay away from Bushnell, I haven't been impressed with any of their products in the last few years. The only thing good about them these days is their warranty. My 2.5-16 elite 6500 was a disappointment and the 1-4 AR scope I played with at the range was terrible.

+1 on the Hi-Lux CMR. I have one on my AR as well. Well worth the money and a great value.
