hi all, looking for ideas for the wifes first restricted, she finds my Norc 1911 in .45 too "heavy" & has some trouble racking the slide, i should state that shes a small girl with obviously small hands, so i'm guessing something along the lines of a a glock in 9mm would be better, what have you guys in the same situation found for your better halves that was to their liking? if any ladies out there read this feel free to chime in, thanks in advance

CZ Shadow would be a good choice, nice grip and you don't have the "snappy" recoil of the Glock (some women deos not like it...).

My girlfriend prefers my CZ Shadow over my Glock G17 & 34. The extra weight of the Shadow really helps tame down the recoil for her. You may want to think of getting the aluminum grips for it. May be a better fit for small hands.

Glocks are just about the last thing you want for someone with small hands. I've helped a few ladies through some options when they were looking for guns that fit smaller hands well. Without exception they all said that the Glock felt like it was far too fat around the grips.

The top selections from the rental range that had a dozen various options to try turned out to be 9mm single stack 1911's, CZ 75 or Shadow, S&W M&P with the smallest rear filler insert and the Ruger SR9.

The other option that fit small hands well and was generally also liked is a K frame S&W revolver with suitable grip scales to fit the shooter.

I'm a woman, and have no problem with the single stack 1911. The Girsan Regard Beretta 92 clone is also not a bad fit. I think the finger grooves make it more manageable for smaller hands.

Here is where you have to bite the bullet and take her to a gun shop and have her handle as many different styles and models as possible, then cross reference that with ease of use, reliability, durability and accuracy. Failure to do so will result in a $900.00 paper weight.

Get her one that she digs, in short. Have fun with it too, don't get all tense, listen to her and if necessary, advocate for her.

I bought my wife a Sig Mosquito, she really likes it. She can also shoot my M&P9 with no discomfort.
I have a friend who has small hands and he swears by his Sig 226 Enhanced Elite.
As previously stated, get her out to a shop or range and let her try out a bunch of guns. She will find the one she likes.
Regards,
Glen

dont buy your wife garbage "girl guns". Look past that shes a woman and show her some nice quality firearms that are not only built for girls.

taking her to a gunshop is exactly what i wanted to do but the ones i've phoned up are a little hesitant since she doesn't have her RPAL in hand yet, which i think is total BS since whenever i took her to the range she was fine to handle my gun under my supervision as a RPAL holder, so she could actually shoot my gun at the range but can't handle one at a shop where theres no live ammo around? lets just say theres some stores i won't be buying from anymore lol, & i'd never get her one of those "girly pink guns" she hates them lol thanks to everyone whos posted keepem comin,

I originally got my wife a m&p 9 range kit but she found after 20-30 rounds her hands/wirst would fatigue. She tried out a SAM 1911/ 9mm and Kimber 1911/9mm and found them a bit better, but she really liked the GSG 1911 22lr. Cant beat the price of the pistol and the ammo.

Not much room(surface area) to get a good grab on the slide of a Jericho and CZ. Especially with delicate fingers, such as mine.
1911's are much easier to get a positive grip on the slide.

My wife had trouble with the slide on my 9 and 45 semis. One day she got a chance to try a Ruger mk3 22 and her eyes lit up when she could operate it easily. Now we have a stainless version that comes to the range every time she does. She often goes through almost a full brick in an afternoon. I'm glad she didn't fall in love with a 45acp or I would be in the poorhouse. ;)

A Ruger SR9 has fairly small grips with an adjustable backstrap. It's also got an ambi safety and mag release. It's also relatively inexpensive and extremely reliable. Might be something for wifey to try out.

Look at the Grand Power guns.

The grip has the ability to take 4 different backstraps to suit her hand perfectly.
The trigger is excellent in SA, short and crisp.
The force needed to rack the slide is minimal, as the rotary lock up doesn't require a huge shearing force.

The K22S or K22 X-Trim are great .22lrs and the K100 or K100 X-Trim are ideal 9mm guns to start out with.

Or wait a month for the next shipment of X-Caliburs.
