Suggestions Please

I killed 78 yotes last winter. I use a Weatherby vanguard synthetic, in .22-250, topped with a 3x10x42 Swarovski. My daughters rig is a Ruger 77, stainless synthetic in .204 ruger, topped with a Ziess 3x9x50. We also took 28 foxes, my rig is a Sako quad, using the .17hmr barrel, topped with a Swarovski 3x9x36, the kid uses her Weatherby MKXX11, in .17hmr, topped with a 3x9x? Leopold. You are right, do not cheap out on the optics, I love my Swarovski's, and really can't see myself buying cheap crap again.

My 25-06 TC pro-hunter is very accurate and although it is only a single shot good luck hitting a running coyote at 350-500yrds if you miss the first time. The other up side is this gun doubles as my muzzleloader(primary reason I bought it).

As for optics you can't go wrong with a Leupold or other high buck optics. For the money though I've never had a problem with my Bushnell 4200 elites. I have also just purchased a Nikon buck master 6-18x40 and am very pleased with the quality and it has a similar lifetime warrenty as Leupold for a little over $400. In fact so far my only complaint is the stiffness of the side mounted parralax knob and that is just me nit-picking. I'am just curious to see how it stands the winter weather.

Anyway just my .02

well I went to the gun shop today to have a look and I really liked a tikka t3 stainless in .270, some of you suggested this chambering as well as the store owner. He did have a blued t3 in 25-06 but that particluar round is hard to reliably source in my area it would be a 1 hour drive east or 40 min west where as 270 is 15 min. Away. As for scopes I looked through a bushnell 6500 elite mil dot 4.5-16 x 50 with a 30 mm tube. Was it ever fantastically clear, crisp, and bright I was suprised. What are your thoughts on this set up.

Thanks again for the help if you there is another chambering I should consider let me know.

My current go-to hunting rig is a Rem700 LTR in 308. Fluted heavy bbl (20"), synthetic stock, Harris bipod, Leupold rings, Warne base, Leupold VX-III 4.4-14x40 scope (mildot, B&C, Varmint reticle would all work). If you looking at alot of longer range shots, I might up the magnification to 6.5-20x40/50. I think it would suit your purpose well, and would work for larger game as well. Not the easiest to lug around but easy to keep steady... The 308 also bucks the wind better than some (very handy in Southern Alberta)

Also, x2 on the rangefinder. At 300-500yds, it might save you a bit of grief.
