My Budget is between 400 - 700 for an entry level rifle.

I've been thinking about buying the Ruger American Predator.

1) caliber .308 or 6.5creed
2) What are your suggestions for a rifle in my budget.

If you don't reload 6.5 creedmoor ammo is expensive.
Something to consider if budgeting is a concern.

I recommend a Vanguard (s2). Not sure if they come in 6.5 but I've got one in 308 and I'm consistently pleased with it not just for the money but in comparison to what else is out there in that category.

Yup, Vanguard S2 in .308. Top end of your budget but lightyears ahead of the rest in the budget offerings.

Stick with .308 for ammo cost, availability and versatility.

You could have a look at the Savage Axis.

If you're looking for a "precision rifle" then I would get a savage. Not sure how build friendly the rugers are.

Bought the Savage 10TR
