Were these ever imported into the country by a retailer? Or do they only make it in one at a time.

Finally Arrived,

I have only ever known 2 men that have these 22's and I've never met Eagleye. They may be more but I'm thinking not too many more. FS

Fellow I shoot with has one, He imported it himself in the early 90's

Very few ever made it in to Canada.

How does his shoot?

I am trying to import one right now, just a few more steps and should be good. Its an absolute near perfect sample with the original peeps on it. Can't wait.

Quite a few made it into the U.S. looks like.

Sounds like they are as rare in the country as Unique T_sm's or any Unique for that matter.

Dizzy: if you dont mind me asking , how big of a hassle and expense is it to go through the importation process?

I don't mind you asking, I just don't have the answers as I haven't been successful just yet. The biggest expense is buying the dang gun, they don't come cheap and unfortunately most guys know their value, as they are pretty much in the hands of collectors.

As FS mentioned, I have a Suhl 150.
It came to me via the USA. A poster on here brought three in originally, and I was fortunate enough to snag one.
You need to be careful with these rifles. The twist rate in them varies from 16¼" to a full 19", depending on production.
A 19" twist is a bit slow for standard velocity match ammo in cooler weather.
Mine has a 16¼" twist, and is wonderfully accurate. It is not unusual to shoot a 10 shot group at 50M that will be under .2", with one every once in a while under .1" to keep you happy.
They are not inexpensive, as has been noted. But they have the best trigger ever put on a rimfire rifle, albeit the shoe itself is a bit fragile. (easily broken)
IF (big if) you can find one, it is unlikely you will ever be disappointed.
I do know that when I show up at our range with it to shoot rimfire BR, there are always a lot of groans. lol
Here's a pic or two. The 10 shot groups are at 50M not 100. The group average is about .108" Eagleye

Eagleye. Thanks for posting. That's one special 22, as those groups are far less common to obtain than many think. Which tuner is on the end of the barrel? Is it off the shelf or does it have to be matched to the barrel diameter by a machinist?

Dizzy, Thank you. The tuner is a Harrells. I ordered it direct from the source. He needed the barrel diameter at the muzzle and 1" back from the muzzle, IIRC. It fit right on perfectly when I got it. Eagleye.

WOW, Big Surpirse. Suhl arrived in the Mail yesterday along with a Walther GX-1, Christmas came early. The action was taken off the stock for shipping and of course the trigger was not protected so tip of the blade broke off, the stock was refinished, not very well, so a little disappointed But, and theres always a but, everything is there and the action is smooth, original peep sights included. all in all pretty happy, now its off to the range.

Will try and get pics up. Barrel is pretty thick, thicker than expected, will check the twist also. Its old, hope it shoots good.

1-16 twist.

dizzy,

Mine broke also. As Eagleye wrote, they are very fragile. There's a guy in the US (Tim Allen) that carries a lot of Suhl parts. PM me if you want his email. I ordered a few spare parts from him (firing pin assembly, trigger blade) that may come handy someday.

the stock was refinished, not very well

Factory stocks are rather easy to find in the US. Keep an eye on Ebay. A lot of Suhl owners replace them with BR stocks.

they have the best trigger ever put on a rimfire rifle

Eagleye,

Suhl triggers are very good indeed but not as sophisticated as the 5018 Anschütz. Also, have you ever tried a Kenyon trigger ? I know it's not fair to compare factory and custom triggers but the Kenyon can't compare to the Suhl's, they really are in another class...
