Sulun SPAS-12 – SPAS repro availability for import

Yes, it is aesthetically similar but it isn't a variant. It shares no parts and operates completely differently, not a clone. The SKS looks similar to an AK pattern rifle but is still legal still to own and purchase.
Derya MK-12 shotguns were recently prohibited as AR15 variants.
If thats not enough to convince you that A) this would undoubtably be deemed a prohibited SPAS variant and B) your understanding of the term variant is clearly not the RCMP's benchmark, then I wish you luck in managing your expectations.

Yeah but the SKS is not a « scary black gun » and is on a class of its own.

It is, but this doesn't share any parts with a SPAS and operates completely differently with a different action and everything. Its typical Turkish reproduction as far as I know. So a completely new firearm that would meet our import guidelines and restrictions
Dude our government wouldnt let the GSG-5 airsoft mp5 turned into a 22lr because it was an MP5 "variant" lol. Dont even get me started on the rest of the entire GSG 22lr line

We are no longer allowed to have anything that looks cool.

They literally banned a 22 that LOOKED like an MP-5 yet didn't function at all. They banned it as a variant simply because the gun was advertised as an MP-5 in 22LR. It was the GSG 522.
