I love this Marlin 1895G in .45-70. My only complaint (I'm coming from the Tactical side of boomsticks) is that the blued surface don't do it for me. :nest:

I would dearly love to drop this baby into my parkerizing tank after a pass or 2 through the bead blast cabinet. :D

Have a look at this picture from Wild West in Alaska! :dancingbanana:

Most of you know me from the M14 threads and I just cannot deal with a blued look. Maybe (like my wife says) I've got my head up my butt.

Or maybe I should find a project Marlin 336 that's seen better days with some surface rust and go and parkerize that baby. But I just love my half magazine-looking Guide Gun!

Thoughts? Provocations ? Should I just go and parkerize it? I'm inspired by the collection at Wild West in Alaska. :D

Cheers,

Barney

I plan on doing the very same thing to my 1894P that I carry in the wet weather.
I think the parkerized finish looks great, along with the teflon coating it should be quite durable as well.

Knowing a bit about your rep here and what your hobbies are
you need to do a yes no sheet (here i will help)

is it going to cost a fortune - no
is it going to change the way it shoots ? prob no
do you want to do it Yes
is some one going to slap you silly for doing it
(its not a antique / rare / not a collector) its a run of the mill gun but you will keep it if you like it so yes
you might loose some $$ on resale but i thing not a lot
will some one want to look at it when you are at the range and what will they say parkerized they might not even look at it twice
now if you wanted to paint it PINK they will look at you funny:eek:

so I would say DO IT

do a write up with pictures before and after with targets

ps your project is way over my skill level but i wish i could do it with a older rifle

Thanks for the morning laff!!

I've got a couple of old 22's and a 20 guage barrel from a Topper that has rust on them-not worth rebluing but if I could parkerize them myself it might be an option.I'm interested in how yours work out...Biggest issue with me is where to find a suitable tank...
