There are a lot of happy hunters in the province today following the provincial government’s decision to allow hunting on Sundays.
The announcement was made on Saturday night by Environment Minister Nancy Heppner in a speech at the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation (SWF) convention in Moose Jaw.
It was met with a rousing standing ovation by the roughly 400 people at the final banquet at the convention.
SWF president Ray Wild felt the announcement was the perfect way to end the convention.
“How can you not be happy with it? Getting Sunday hunting is something we’ve been trying for the last 15 years.”

Good for you guys :D

We got more widespread Sunday hunting here in Alberta last year... always nice to have an excuse to get out into the wilderness an extra day every week :D

Now would be a good time to send a congratulatory e-mail or letter to the ministry of Environment - Nancy Heppner, minister. She will take a significant amount of flack from the anti's for this brave decision, and you catch more flies with honey...

I want to congratulate the Government of Saskatchewan and minister Nancy Heppner for your new legislation allowing Sunday hunting in our province. In an increasingly urbanized world that continues to drift away from a personal connection with nature and environment, legislation permitting Sunday hunting is a huge step forward! Hunting creates opportunities for citizens to enjoy gathering food from an abundant nature and teaches life lessons of responsibility, stewardship, and emotional attachment to the land like no other activity. People only care about, and conserve what they know, and since Sunday hunting will allow present and future generations of urban residents much more opportunity to enjoy days afield, our province will become a better place in which to live, and hunt.
Hats off! Bravo! Waidmannsheil!
