SUNDAY HUNTING MEETING IN COBOCONK
Wednesday September 19 at 7:00 p.m.!
This is just a reminder of the upcoming Sunday Gun Hunting meeting at the Coboconk Community Hall, 9 Grandy Road in Coboconk this Wednesday September 19 at 7:00 p.m.

Kawartha Lakes Council is using this meeting to decide whether or not to support Sunday gun hunting in their municipality. It's important that we have a huge turnout of hunters in support of this initiative, or Council will use the excuse to vote against Sunday hunting!

If any of your friends hunt, please let them know about the meeting and we hope you are able to attend.

Well, I didn't make it, I was on a late service call.

Good turn out I think. About 50 +, mostly in favor of opening up the Sunday hunt. But it is the council that will be making the decision. I am disappointed in one council member that one of his original reasons for voting against, was that the farmers of the property that he hunts on would not allow hunting if the Sunday hunt was voted in. His comment was somewhat self serving as he would lose the land that he hunts.
Another Lindsay business owner surprisingly was also against the opening of Sunday hunting. There was a suggestion to split the region but not a lot of discussion.
My take is that it was mostly the same opinions by the same group of people. We as hunters are the minority and as suggested a referendum on the subject, I don’t believe would result in our favor. We can only hope that the lack of turnout by the people apposed will be enough to change councils mind.

I think there were about five anti's present at the meeting I attended. Sounds like the agenda was pretty much the same, although we didn't get that admission by the hunting councilor.
