Sunshade question

Different brands, different OD. I had a cheapie Tasco scope with 42mm objective and figured all 42mm should be the same right? Nope. Picked up a Bushnell 42mm sunshade, it doesn't fit. Call the scope manufacturer and ask them if they carry it. Chances are you can buy one.

Burris do sell one but I'd rather pick one up at a local gun shop and save the shipping but, sadly, Burris stockists are pretty much non-existant round here. I'll see if other brands fit when I get my to my local shop next.
 
Thanks Robert. I guess that there's no reason that they should all have the same threads and they are protecting their sales by having proprietary fittings but it is a pain in the arse. I'm down in the city soon. Any gun shops that you can recommend?

If anyone here knows of any makes that might fit a 2014 Burris thread, I'd be glad of the help. My local shop sells Nikon, Redfield, Simmons, Swarovski, Leopold, Weaver, Sightmark, Tasco, and Zeiss so I might find one of them that fits.
