I have a sunshade sitting on my desk, waiting for the sunny days. I was watching some YouTube videos and it seemed like they were all sunshaded up even though it wasn't really sunny.

Do you keep your sunshade on all the time, or is it the equivalent of keeping your race number plate on for weeks after the race?

I like the look of sunshades, but I don't have any scopes that can take them. I don't think I would use them in practice if I had them though, mostly because I can't see myself being in any situation that would need it.

I run one on my Bushnell XRS II on my 6.5 Creedmoor because it seems to make it look better, never been in a situation yet where I was like "I really wish I had my sunshade".

So it's the optimistic Wet Coaster that's running the sunshade, and the guy who lives in a desert not bothering. LOL.I think I'll keep my non colour matching sunshade sitting on my desk if there's not much need for it. At least until I get some sweet camo netting wrap to wrap my scope up in.

Yup lol! One thing is they do make a fantastic pencil/pen holder if it's long enough:)

I got one with my Sightron, which is on my CZ 455 .22lr. I installed it just for fun. It has a 16" barrel so it looks kind of funny that the scope is so close to the end of the barrel. It'll probably come off at some point but for now it stays just for rhe novelty.

Do people buy them? Or they just come free with the scope? Every sunshade I've had has come with the scope, and the scope has been sold with it (if I could find it!).

Yes you can buy them. Some of them are very hard to find. You need to match the thread pattern and objective lens size. Not all 50mm lenses are the same. They change between manufactures

I never used one until I started getting into PRS. I saw lots of competitors using them and learned why. It gives you more to grab on to help steady a rifle. I now leave them on my hunting rifle as well for the same reason.
