So where can i find these Suomi M-31's but with the Figured hardwood stock....they seem rather hard to find but being a bit new i'm not to sure where to find them. i'm willing to try online sales or local Alberta shops that might have them close by or that would ship

Sorry if this is the wrong area for this

Unless you can sort few a few to select one, you'll get a random gun which may or may not have decent figure. I would avoid these anyhow, they have a VERY poor reputation for terrible reliability (the commercial TNW ones being sold in Canada) and a tendency for the barrel to break off the front of the rifle.

Agree... a genuine POS

and BTW, the figured hardwood stocks you show in the pictures are "figured" with stain only. So no naturally figured wood here.

Ive seen a few that really look like a quilted hardwood, i was unaware of a poor rep but i do think its worth looking more into i really love the solid clean lines and vintage/modern look of these i like the design so even if i cant get a dream date gun ill settle for something that gives its money's worth

this is one that i also thought was a real quilted hardwood.....it's no 5 pined Canadian but something like the one in the vid would be a dream date gun http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oMqtWfxG_go

still only "stain figured".

you seem to have decided already... all I can tell you, go and at least handle one before you buy it. If you still want it after that, then you really deserve it.

well its looking like there are duds......thanks guys, ill lay my hands on one some day but after looking in to the poor rep and other issues im thinking ill hunt down VZ 58 instead

Just to be clear it's not the barrels breaking it's the front filler that holds the barrel that's detaching from the receiver because of faulty welds. Anyone who wants one would be wise to get them into a welding shop for rewelding. Once this is done they seem to work half decent. All the ones I've seen have had stocks of medium to dark color with no tiger stripe.

well back from the dead........i'm still wanting one of these and money is burning a hole in my pocket so i might just take the plunge next week. is this weak weld still an issue? ive been told its not and that some of the early ones had the problem but its been looked after.........I also notice the price is going down a bit

I have heard nothing about the weld issue being fixed! I think it's just some People got lucky with good welds and a few who didn't. If you get one I would get a couple of welds done on it for some extra insurance. They are heavy but fun enough to shoot a SMG type firearm when you get and understand all the quirks. They look kickass with a drum mag!

"...not to sure where to find them..." You have the proper permits? Just curious.

these are nonrestricted and do not require any more than a PAL to purchase .They were made with a 18.6 barrel and semi auto from TNW .
They are sold by a couple of vendors on this site ,SFRC ,Wanstalls ....ect

cheers Peter

Well lets see I had other problems...

Mine could never fire the hammer hit the top of the bolt and stopped had to grind the top of the hammer down to fit the bolt. The trigger would get stuck back after firing have to flick it forward to rest it and fire the next round. It's heavy as heck kind of a pain to take apart and put back together. Stuck at 5 round the drum magazines are a pain in the rear as they're hard to put in and take out. The price in the US is 349.99 and here it's 699.... So ya someone is making lots of money off it...

They have a 19 inch barrel and are non restricted....

I had to call TNW they sent a new trigger and bolt and hammer springs to fix the problem they sent it out with the wrong parts... It was a honest mistake as they had someone new putting them together who grabed the wrong parts and threw it in causing it to not function.

A few things to know about this rifle don't jump with in in your hand and don't drop it as it can fire since the transfer bar is held up by springs a hard enough hit will cause the hammer to drop. Also The safety when put on prevents you from pulling the bolt back to take a round out of it huge pain in the rear and if you drop the rifle it can go bang so it's not the safest rifle out there. I had to monkey around with the firearm to get it to work properly but it shoots fine now the welds look better then the one in that video but I got 1 from the first batch.

I had my m31 tig welded by Drivers welding here in town and then matt blued by pullins gunsmithing. It looks GREAT and with it welded no more issues for me.
