supernova or 870?

So up until recently I had my heart set on a sportsman field 870, but i recently came into a bit more money and the guy at SAIL was trying to talk me into the supernova. I know benelli makes good products, but I've read mixed reviews online, and salesmen never seem to care and just want to sell me whatever is more expensive. So I come to you for your experiences. I plan on shooting mostly trap and I would like to eventually get into some waterfowl hunting. Also, is the only difference between the nova and the supernova the recoil? Thanks guys
 
benellli over a remington any day of the week and twice on sundays. Spend the extra money and get the benelli. It is a better gun.
 
I think my suggestion is pretty obvious...:rolleyes: so I'll tell you why;) The Supernova has a larger trigger gaurd and oversize safety that is really nice with gloves on compared to the Nova (or rem) And the buttstock is removeable. But what I really like is things like the finish wont rust (most of it is polymer anyways), it handles all shells Ive dumped in it without a hickup and no break-in period from cheap low brass to magnums, from short 2 3/4" to 3.5" magnums. It all feeds, fires and ejects smoothly. The smooth chrome chamber with a bolt action style rotating bolthead means you will never have a round stuck in the chamber. Shell stop override lets you empty the chamber without feeding a round from the magazine for ammo changes or some extra safety while unloading. Chromed bore is faster and easier to clean and wont rust. Bottom line: worth the money
 
Well I'm sold! To be honest the only thing I don't like about it is the forestock is kind of ugly in my opinion, hehe. But after watching a few videos I think I can get used to it. Now what about the nova vs supernova. I've heard its pretty much the same gun minus the recoil. I will probably get the supernova, but if there isnt much difference I could get the max4 camo on a nova for the same price of the super.
 
see my above post, but to recap: Nova has stock attached to reciever, Supernova butt is removeable. Supernova has a bigger trigger guard and safety. The actions, forends and barrels are all the same. Id suggest handling both side by side and make your decison on which one you like best.
 
Benelli Super nova hands down

unless your one of those guys who wants ever mod known to man on there gun "if thats you go with the 870 ;)"

Here is what the Super nova offers over the Rem 870

-Shell latch stays up when loading "very nice"
-drilled and tapped reciever
-the option to eject a round with out a round from the mag loading
-better QC on all parts
-chrome lined barrel and chamber "prevent hard extractions"
-full lenght forend
-Extra large trigger guard "help when you have gloves on"
-better finish
 
I just picked one up today. Was apprehensive at first as I was intending to get another semi but man did I fall in love with this thing. Cleaned and ready to go this weekend.
Quality is first rate, smooth action, and solid throughout.
