As soon as I get home from my Alberta trip which should be in another 2 to 4 weeks I am putting a couple of rifles up for sell on the EE so I can buy another 8.5" Dlask shotgun...

I plan on supporting Dlask as much as I can for stepping up to the plate and supporting the Canadian firearms community even though I see that some don't have the right to be involved in it...

Thanks again Dlask Arms Corp...

Apparently Dlask has a lawyer , the NFA and Dave Tomlinson are in the fight . Could someone find or dig up the phone number , the address and or the e-mail of the RCMP who is going to make the final decision or anyone who is going to be in on the decision . I'll throw in with Dlask for a fight . Talking points , the gun weighs over 5 pounds , it's much larger than any pistol out there . It was not altered , it was manufactured and conforms to the letter of the law . The RCMP already determined that they are non-restricted and our registrations reflect that . It is designed to be used with two hands . I want to support Dlask with e-mails , phone calls and letters but who do i send them to ?

So far the argument that it is not a pistol may not be appropriate, as it was just Foxer's opinion that the rcmp MAY use the argument it should be considered a handgun.

There are other non-pistols that are classed restricted after all, and not because they could be considered a handgun.

I've tried placing an order and didn't get an answer. I guess they've sold them all. Does anyone know if they still plan on manufacturing more, or has that changed?

If I am not mistaken, Restricted firearms that are NOT handguns, are restricted because they are NAMED.

Which is why the AR is restricted but the Mini 14 is not.

They can be restricted by barrel length as well, CZ58, CX4 Storm, etc. The AR15 is about the only named restricted rifle, then there is one named restricted shotgun. Everything else is named prohib, even tho a lot of it would have been non-restricted by the rules.

Thanks for clearing that up. Are all those rifles semi autos? Is that part of the criteria for restricted as well?

Here is the CC definition:

"restricted firearm"
"restricted firearm" means
(a) a handgun that is not a prohibited firearm,

(b) a firearm that
(i) is not a prohibited firearm,
(ii) has a barrel less than 470 mm in length, and
(iii) is capable of discharging centre-fire ammunition in a semi-automatic manner,

(c) a firearm that is designed or adapted to be fired when reduced to a length of less than 660 mm by folding, telescoping or otherwise, or

(d) a firearm of any other kind that is prescribed to be a restricted firearm;

Looks like the RCMP are trying to 'prescribe' this one.

I may be wrong on this but I was under the impression you can only "prescribe" by Order-in-Council ie the government has to do it. otherwise you have the police making law as they go along which - in spite of lieberals' and socialists wet dreams - is still a no-no in a democracy...

From same source:

"handgun"
"handgun" means a firearm that is designed, altered or intended to be aimed and fired by the action of one hand, whether or not it has been redesigned or subsequently altered to be aimed and fired by the action of both hands;
