I know there illegal in hunting for obvious reasons... Poaching. Although are they allowed at the range? Or are they totally prohibited in Canada? And if they are why?

To me it's logical for ranges etc. neighbours biggest complaints are noise.

ONLY LEA and MIL are allowed, everyone else is not, clubs, hunting or any place.

If you put one on your gun you automatically become assassin and can take out city blocks with one shot.

Its way to dangerous to let civies use then which is why they are prohib, only the best trained in the land (LEA and MIL) are worthy.

I hope that's sarcasm I sense lol so if one walks into a shopping mall with a .22lr that has like 20 rounds is far less dangerous then a guy with a bench rest gun who puts a suppressor lol more rcmp logic. You'd think neighbours around the country would love if there gun loving neighbours used suppresses when shooting on there properties. I would shoot all day if it wasn't for my neighbours.

And no I don't live in a neighbourhood I'm out in the country and surrounded by farms and no houses. But my nearest neighbour is about 500 yards away and they like to call the police. Everytime they come they leave because I am legally allowed to shoot their. But it's just annoying.

The law is the law, it doesn't have to make any sense.

RCMP logic? They don't make the laws in this country, try again.

Write you MP monthy asking for logic as to prohibited hearing protection, among other things.

I do.

Try the search function for suppressors, there's a good thread somewhere.

When is the last time government did something in the gun owners favour? And please don't say lgr. That was more in their favour then ours. I love the nfa commercial on wild tv claiming losing the lgr was a huge success. Ya good job welcome to the post lgr era or better known as the prohibited era

There was a thread where a member ran naked through the 7 circles of hell with a chicken on his head to get an answer from the almighty RCMP tech ring leader as to why suppressors are prohibited. The big cheese wheel responded with "they are prohibited cause they are prohibited". The member placed his firstborn child on the alter of prohibs and returned with the answer. They still sing songs of his journey under the northern lights, drunken with newfie screech

Is this satire?

And to think they are legal in the UK.

Yes they are and i had to take the suppressor off my air rifle when i moved 3 years ago.

They did also confiscate and destroy the baby walker that i had no idea was illegal in Canada.

Them baby walkers are as dangerous as suppressors.

I totally understand not wanting babies to fall down stairs, i don't understand why they want deaf shooters....

Because they hate us.

So you think because oil filters are legal they can be used as sound supressors??

f:P:

The law does not define possibility, only prosecution. Yes an oil filter can be used as a suppressor, If they catch you using it as such you will go to jail, unless you're a gang-banger who's just about to turn his life around.

In Europe: Suppressors curb noise pollution and offer hearing protection = Legal.

In North America: Suppressors are used by assassins in movies = Illegal.

Welcome to overactive imagination land, you may not have a suppressor you evil sniper.

Actually he simply said they can be used as a suppressor, he didn't make any mention of them being legal for such use, in fact he said if you do that, and get caught, you go to jail. all true.

Are you even serious? Do you realize what you just stated??

Let me reiterate. you just said :

"Yes an oil filter can be used as a suppressor"

immediately followed by :

"If they catch you using it as such you will go to jail"

In case you haven't realized, that means they CAN'T legally be used as suppressors Einstein.

f:P:

f:P:2:f:P:So let me get this straight. the OP wants to talk about the legality of suppressors in canada? At this time when the RCMP are writing their own laws to prohibit and confiscate more firearms because they are scary looking and you want to know WHY the RCMP do not allow us to own a suppressor? yea thats a double face palm.
