Not bad... I guess the unusable bayonet lug is because you had the barrel threaded for a FH, but because of the barrels taper, that's where the sight ended up. Correct? I hate it when stuff like that happens ;)

You have the rail which connects to the gas block so no using a gas block sight.
You could always have a "cut" milled into the upper and a blade-sight installed which would clean it up a lot.

Something like:

Anyway, looks like a nice place to shoot. How was it?
Oh. What kind of scope?

Cheers

Why would you think the bayo lug is unusable?

lol i totally missed that the bayonet lug is usable i will snap a pic when i get a chance sadly both the bayonets i have wont mount the lug is just slightly to big so until i find one there will be no charging prairie dogs

I've never had a bayonet (err... aside from SKS and 58) it looked too far back to my virgin eyes. Clearly I am wrong. Would love to see pics with a bayonet mounted :)

guess these arent as popular as i thought they were

Not really a Black (or green) rifle. Popular for those people (here in the states) who have restrictions on owning an "evil" AR. With the price of buiding an AR rifle at or lower than the cost of a Mini 14, they are a second fun choice rather than a first choice .223 semi-auto rifle. AR mags and accessories more abundant as well.

That appears to be a GB, or good GB clone (sight location/bayonet lug) - they were made this way for LE use in both Semi and Full Auto configs (as the AC556). Could easily be a factory barrel with no mods other than spinning on a new FH.

Perfect Union has a Mini 14/30 section you would like.

The Mini up here is a pain in the ass though.

Proprietary mags that are expensive is one thing, and for what they are, they are over priced nowadays.

If I were to go back to the mini platform, Id go with a Mini 30 All Weather, or just go with the Ruger Gunsite Scout.
