My dedicated surefire forend is on the way :D However, I have heard that some people have had trouble putting surefire forends onto their Mossberg 590C's. Anything to look out for or any prep work that can/should be done to my shotgun in anticipation of the surefire ?

problems where with 590's and bayonet lugs..... surefire discontinued the model made for bayonet lugs so now you have to grind the bayonet lug off your fullsize 590 if you want a surefire forend.....

I could be wrong here but I believe that as long as you ordered one for mossberg shotguns you should be fine. The problem with 14" barrels is that the light will extend beyond the end of the shotgun. It doesn't affect anything except for looks, however I do believe that you can unscrew part of the flashlight and just mount the bezel onto the forend to alleviate this but then you just turned it into a 3V system. I know that someone on this board has already done this, he had his 590C for sale in the EE with the flush surefire forend.

Just a warning.... the surefire forend for Mossberg 590 shotguns will not work for a model 590C with a 14in barrel. The problem is the length of the forend. For the 14in 590 shotguns, one must buy the surefire forend for Mossberg 500 shotguns (so says Surefire and the boxes that the lights come in). So, if anyone needs a dedicated foreend for a 590 or has one for a 500/590C, let me know ;-)
