I have a friend who is completely belligerent when it comes to internet and pretty much any kind of technology. He refuses to join this forum, but he's expressed and interest in obtaining one or two of the Surefire 5/60 or 5/90 AR magazines. He has a birthday coming up, so I figure I'll see if I can't find one or two for him.
Does anyone know of a retailer that has them in Stock?
What do they retail for new?
What could I expect to spend on used ones on the EE?

Thanks.

good to have for the zombie apocalypse I guess.

For $100 I can buy five 5/30 Pmags and if we ever end up in a zombie apocalypse or WROL there will be no such thing as a rivet. These 5 round limits have made me fairly good at mag changes and a 5/30 is way easier to carry and manipulate. Also much lighter rifle when carrying it and not shooting.
The Surefire mag is a $50 magazine that is inflated just like the stupid Beowulf mags due to supply manipulation and the fact people are silly enough to spend that much on them. There is no way I am paying over $100 for a $30 mag that has a stamp on the side just so I can stick a few more rounds in then have to argue with an ignorant cop about it's legality when I get stopped with it. The LAR mags are good enough and even those can put you in a position of having to waste a bunch of time explaining their legality to a cop or conservation officer who hasn't bothered to keep up with the finer points of the firearms regulations.
I always carry a copy of the regs regarding mag capacity printed from the RCMP site just in case. We all know they are perfectly legal but it could end up being a real pain if the wrong officer stops you. I have better things to do with my time.

Instead of spending all that money on a silly magazine why not donate that money to the NFA so they can fight to have the useless mag capacity laws removed and then we can buy a 30, 60, 90 or 100 round mag and use it the way it was designed to be used, one day the sheeple will realize they are just as safe no matter how many rounds are in a law abiding firearms owners magazine and the anti's fear mongering was all BS.

Listen, I've been making multiple donations and writing letters.
I would never spend money on one of these for myself, but my friend's birthday is coming up and he said he wants one of these. He is an idiot. Over the last 16 years, it's become obvious to me that no matter how much breath I waste trying to talk sense into him, he will just always like stupid sh!t. No matter what.
He said that all he wants is one of these magazines, and I'd rather get him something gun related than something he doesn't want..

Using the mag as a rest is an invitation to a malfunction. You can't import or possess "high capacity" mags anyway. Make you into a belligerent SOB baby killer. snicker.

Technically there is an export ban on the Surefire 60 and 90 round magazines.
If you find them in Canada they have either fallen through the cracks or may not have been brought in with all their paperwork.
Canada doesn't really care as long as they are pinned to 5 rounds.
They can be exported for military and LEO purposes but that would mean that somebody would be telling a lie on their export paperwork if they were being sold to the public.
