Good morning,

I just picked a Surefire War Comp off the EE. The instructions recommend the application of rocksett. Have any of you installed one of these (or any other sure fire muzzle device) without rocksett? Was it still solid if torqued to spec?

FYI, I am mounting this on a MK18 10.3" and DO plan to run a surefire Warden over top.

Best regards

You only really need Rockset if you use a suppressor. If you use a warden and let it get caked and baked, then maybe rockset, but I can't see a guy leaving the warden on that long.

Even if you choose to Rockset it, make sure try it out first because putting in the glue.

The ports on the Warcomp are not straight up and symmetric on both sides. They made it pretty complicated that it can be timed for leftH, rightH and neutral. I personally find it work better on "heavier" barrel. I have it on a KAC dimpled HBAR it worked like a charm. I mounted it on a 14.5" light weight barrel at neutral position it pushed the muzzle horizontally to the right in the first try - I gave up and put the vortex back on

I ran my SF3P without rockset for bout 1100 rounds, no issue what so ever.
I'm actually wondering why, when I bought my CT warcomp, I bothered to rocksett them both on.

Just put a little on.

Watch this installation very closely. Make sure you are very close to the correct position when doing the torque and get the shims correct.

Wait 24hrs after when using rockset before shooting to test her out.

I just installed the SF3P FH I'm using a warden and Surefire Trainer.

Remember to adjust for POI shift.

Exactly True. But there are some lazy & stupid people out there, and sometimes they forget why they bought the part for, and what it is used for, and how to do basic maintenance. lol

I think ive decided to run the comp in the Neutral position. I do most of my shooting strong side but if im running barricades I may shoot support side. I figure neutral will give me a good balance.

Putting a few drops on doesn't..... hurt I would. Get a SF warden and surefire trainer?

The problem too is that I dont have any rock set and really don know where to get any. I bought my War comp from the EE and it didnt come with any. As for a Warden, I do plan to buy one just after xmas and most of my shooting will prob be done with the Warden attached

So now here is a question......why cant you mount the war comp using a simple crush washer? Has anyone tried this?

You should be able to. Shims are completely flat which is why they work better for alignment on suppressors. Crush washers can "crush" uneven creating issues like baffle strikes on cans. The warden is both short enough and forgiving on the exit (.30 cal+ )
