I have surface rust/pitting on my shotgun just wondering what I should do to fix it? Sorry the pics aren't the greatest.

Wipe it down with a cloth and some gun oil. Just a light coating before storage and after use goes a long way. Happens to my cheap shotguns too if I forget to take them out of their cases.

Don't laugh, but an old machinist's trick is to wipe the rusty spots down with iodine. Some sort of chemical reaction stops the rust from spreading. I've seen it done on machine parts. Leave it for a day or so and then start reblueing the barrel. Yea, and use a light coating of fine gun oil for storage.

if you want to remove it and you got some time just take a brown paper bag and oil and sand it down. it will remove the rust and leave the finish. You will still have bare metal spots where the rust was but the finish is already gone there you can't get it back. you just red some oil over the spot with your finger and than start rubbing with a little piece of the bag. when you see that the bag is getting smoothed down and isn't working anymore get a new piece

For surface rust use extra-fine or finest steel (ooo, oooo)wool with or without gun oil is debatable but oil when you are finished....

wow eh, I guess your keeping it in a place were condensation is avaliable. Iv had a layer of rust not near as sever as that before in my gun closet on my mossberg and ithica. (I hadnt opend my closet in a month, which is very WERID cause Im usually in and out cleaning, admiring, looking what to add etc every other day in my collection). In one of my gun cleaning kits a very soft wool was in it for these purposes. It worked wonders, that and oil and she will be cleaned up.
