Surgeon 591 extractor spring

Hi all, would any of you know where I could get a new spring for the extractor in my Surgeon bolt? This one is very weak & will typically just spin the case around & leave it sitting on top of the mag when cycled with any real force. When I cycle the bolt gently, it will spit it out but just kinda drops it out. Not a huge deal but it is getting a bit irritating.

Surgeon requires a minimum $100 order for any part or accessory & damned if I'm gonna dole that out. Is there a better option than going to the local smith & irritating him by searching for the proverbial needle in his coil spring haystack?

No such thing. Remington uses a rivited/clip type extractor. I would order from McMaster Carr. Shipping won't be cheap but they have every size and shape of spring imaginable.

No problem. I'm looking at getting a couple of extractor springs for a British rimfire pistol of mine. Same issue, except the extractor is so weak it wont pull a fired case out of the chamber. McMaster appears to have some springs that should fit the bill nicely, and they have approximately twice the poundage.
